I don’t, by and large, do book reviews, but it occurred to me that there might be some Oasis bands who are actually hitting the road not knowing how much they could benefit by having read–cover to cover– Martin Atkin’s volume Toursmart. If that’s your situation, I sincerely suggest you consider postponing any impending tour until you have a chance to nab a copy and study it.
Inside is everything from how to analyze a contract to, well, to the etiquette of what does and doesn’t go in the tour bus toilet. All compiled by Martin Atkins, now a college music business professor but unmistakably retaining the street cred and vibe of a former Johnny Rotten drummer (which he is).
P.S. I suggest you get the generously sized dead-tree version, not the e-book. You’ll want to dog-ear it. These are trees that died for a good cause: your successful touring.
